Terms & Conditions

The conditions on which we take a booking, what happens if plans change, how the gaming lounge is run, and the terms on which this website is provided.

Effective 1 April 2026 · Version 5.0 · Harrier Lodge Hospitality Limited · NZBN 9429048817326

01 · Who these terms bind

These terms are between you and Harrier Lodge Hospitality Limited (NZBN 9429048817326), 148 Fernhill Road, Queenstown 9300, Otago, New Zealand. They apply to every booking made with us directly, to your stay at the property, and to your use of this website. Where a booking is made through an agent or travel platform, that party's conditions apply to the booking itself and ours apply to your stay.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where you deal with us as a consumer.

02 · Bookings and rates

A booking exists once we have sent you a written confirmation with a reservation number. Rates quoted are in New Zealand dollars, per room per night, include GST, and include breakfast for two unless stated otherwise. Rates vary by season and by availability, and a quoted rate is held for 48 hours unless confirmed.

The lead guest must be 18 years or older and is responsible for the conduct of everyone in the room. Rooms are let to the number of guests stated on the booking; additional guests must be declared and may attract a charge.

03 · Payment

Flexible rateCard details taken to hold the booking. Payment on departure.
Saver rateFull payment at the time of booking. Non-refundable.
PackagesOne night's value taken as a deposit at booking; balance on departure.
Groups (5+ rooms)25% deposit at booking, balance 30 days before arrival.
EventsAs set out in the event agreement.
IncidentalsA pre-authorisation of NZ$150 per room is taken at check-in and released on departure.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, EFTPOS and cash in New Zealand dollars. A surcharge of 1.9% applies to credit card payments and is shown before you confirm.

04 · Cancellation and changes

  • Flexible rate: cancel or amend without charge up to 48 hours before the day of arrival. Inside 48 hours, one night is charged.
  • Saver rate: prepaid and non-refundable. Dates cannot be changed.
  • Packages: cancel without charge up to 7 days before arrival. Inside 7 days, the first night is charged.
  • Groups and events: as set out in the group or event agreement.
  • No-show: the first night is charged and the remainder of the booking may be released.
  • Early departure: the full booked stay is charged.

If we have to cancel your booking — which happens rarely, and usually because of damage, a failure of services, or an event beyond our control — we will refund everything you have paid and, where we can, find you a comparable room elsewhere in Queenstown at our expense. Our liability in that situation is limited to those steps.

05 · Arrival and departure

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00. Reception is staffed 24 hours, so a late arrival is never a problem provided the booking is held. Early check-in and late check-out are offered where the day's occupancy allows, and charged only if the room is held out of sale for you.

Photo identification is required at check-in for the lead guest. We may decline to complete a check-in where identification cannot be produced.

06 · House rules

  • The entire building is smoke-free and vape-free, including balconies and terraces. A cleaning charge of NZ$350 applies where this is not observed.
  • Quiet hours are 22:00 to 07:00 throughout the accommodation wings.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere. Other pets cannot be accommodated.
  • Guests are responsible for damage to the room and its contents, and for the conduct of their visitors.
  • Parties and gatherings in guest rooms are not permitted; we have four rooms designed for exactly that purpose.
  • We may ask a guest to leave, without refund, for behaviour that endangers or seriously disturbs other guests or our staff.
  • Lost property is held for three months and returned at your cost.

07 · The gaming lounge

Entry to the Aurora Room is restricted to persons aged 20 years and over. Photo identification is checked on every visit and entry is refused without it. These conditions apply equally to guests staying in the lodge and to visitors, and they are not discretionary — they arise from the Gambling Act 2003.

  • Admission may be refused, or a guest asked to leave, at the discretion of the duty manager and without a reason being given.
  • Table minimums and maximums are posted at each table and may change during an evening.
  • Smart casual dress applies after 18:00. High-visibility workwear and gang insignia are not admitted at any time.
  • Photography and video recording are not permitted anywhere in the room.
  • Intoxicated guests will not be served and will not be permitted to play.
  • We do not extend credit, lend money or cash cheques for gaming purposes.
  • Self-exclusion orders are honoured in full for their term, and admission will be refused to any person subject to one.
  • Where a dispute arises at a table, the decision of the duty manager is final within the property; you retain the right to complain to the Department of Internal Affairs.

No gambling takes place on this website. Nothing here can be played, staked, deposited or withdrawn, and we do not operate any online gaming service of any kind. See our Host Responsibility page for the full policy.

08 · Packages and promotions

Packages are available in limited numbers and on stated dates, cannot be combined with each other or with any other discount, and are booked directly with our reservations desk. Inclusions are not transferable, have no cash value, and are not refunded if unused.

Where a package includes a credit for the gaming lounge, that credit is issued once per stay at reception against photo identification, is valid only in the Aurora Room during the dates of your stay, cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred, and is not issued to any guest under 20 years of age or to any person subject to a self-exclusion order. A credit at the bar of the same value is available instead on request.

09 · Liability

We take reasonable care of guests and their property, and we carry the insurance you would expect of a hotel of this size. Valuables should nonetheless be kept in the room safe; we are not liable for loss of items left in public areas or in vehicles.

To the extent permitted by law, and subject always to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, our liability arising out of a booking is limited to the amount paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for failure to perform caused by an event outside our reasonable control — including weather, earthquake, fire, flood, power failure, road closure, epidemic or government direction.

Activities booked through our concierge are supplied by independent operators under their own terms; we act only as a booking agent for those.

10 · This website

The content of harrierlodge.com is provided for information. We take care to keep rates, menus, hours and photographs current, but they may change without notice and do not constitute an offer capable of acceptance until we confirm a booking in writing. Images are representative of the room category shown.

All text, photographs, marks and design on this site belong to Harrier Lodge Hospitality Limited or are used under licence, and may not be reproduced without written permission. You may not use this site for any unlawful purpose, attempt to interfere with its operation, or extract its contents by automated means.

The age confirmation shown on arrival is a condition of using the site. Access is restricted to visitors aged 20 and over.

11 · Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by New Zealand law and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

Complaints go to the duty manager first — most are settled the same day. In writing, address the General Manager at 148 Fernhill Road, Queenstown 9300, or [email protected]. We acknowledge within two working days and reply in full within ten. Matters concerning the gaming lounge may also be raised with the Department of Internal Affairs, and privacy matters with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes

We may amend these terms; the version in force when your booking was confirmed is the version that applies to it. The current version and date are shown at the top of this page.
